Established in Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1980, Scottrade relocated its headquarters to St. Louis, Mo., in 1982 and began branching out across the country promoting deeply discounted commissions placed via the telephone through a broker. In the fall of 1996, Scottrade introduced online trading at Scottrade.com to its already substantial customer base.
